Snake bite will get government compensation? Know what the rule is

In India, snakes are often seen in fields and village houses during monsoon.  Due to which the news of snake bites keeps coming. A total of 276 species of snakes are found in the country. 20-30 percent of these snakes are venomous. Its bite kills a person. In view of the increasing cases of snakebite in the rains, the government has declared it a disaster in many states.

In case of snakebite death, the government compensates the victim’s family.In Kerala, compensation is also given in case of death due to bumblebee or poisonous fly sting.

If a person dies due to a snake bite, in many states including Uttar Pradesh, the family of the deceased is given a compensation of Rs 4 lakh. On the other hand, if a farmer dies due to a snake bite, then under the Farmer Insurance Scheme, adding this compensation amount, he is given 1 lakh rupees.

More than 12 lakh people have died in India due to snakebite and envenomation alone. Also, 97 percent of these deaths occurred in rural areas. Males are more likely to die from snakebites than females.

How long does it take to get the compensation?

Postmortem of the victim is most important to get compensation for snakebite death. Based on that, the victim’s family gets help money.

As per the state government rules, after completing all the procedures within 48 hours, the compensation amount is sent to the account of the next of kin of the victim.

What to do if you die from a snake bite?

After a snakebite death, the next of kin should immediately inform the Lekhpal.

Immediately take the deceased for post-mortem and inform the Registrar.

After this, the entire work is done from Lekhpal, Kanungo, Tehsildar and ADM offices.
